After school clubs and camps in Digital Music Production and Stop Motion Animation
Current Schools - Bertschi, Bush, Meridian, University Child Development School
Course Descriptions
In Digital Music Production, students will explore the world of digital music creation using GarageBand! This hands-on program introduces kids to the building blocks of music - rhythm, melody, harmony, structure, tempo, and sound design - in a fun and engaging way.
Students will learn how songs are constructed by creating their own beats, composing melodies, layering instruments, and arranging full tracks. Along the way, we’ll explore how music from their favorite games and pop culture is made - from the epic soundscapes of Minecraft to the high-energy style of K-pop. We’ll also explore the contributions of influential artists within these genres, with a special emphasis on highlighting the achievements of people of color in the arts.
Through guided projects and creative challenges, students will:
Build drum beats and rhythmic patterns
Compose original melodies
Experiment with virtual instruments and sound effects
Learn basic song structure (intro, verse, chorus, bridge)
Develop listening skills and musical vocabulary
Create and share their own original songs
No prior musical experience is required - just curiosity and creativity! By the end of the session, students will better understand how music is built from the ground up and feel empowered to create their own digital productions.
Stop Motion Animation
Quiet on the set! We're rolling! You are invited to enter a world where imagination rules all! In the stop motion animation club we will breathe life and personalities into inanimate objects while we create our very own movies! Using LEGO®, clay, wire, paint, lighting, music, and more, our characters and stories come to life before our very eyes. Students will work independently and in small groups developing artistic visions, collaborating, and communicating toward their final video project spectacular.
